I’m Tan from <House Number Provided>, Jln Tmn Seputeh 2.
Lately I have noticed this chap going around our neighbourhood requesting for money. It usually happen towards the evening time that I have seen this chap.
The first time I noticed this chap was around in Dec’08 approaching a house a few house down the road from where I live, jln tmn seputeh 2. That was approx 8pm.
The second time, can’t recall the month, was approx 6+ in the evening where he carried a plant and approaching a few houses to try to sell it. Not sure whether he succeeded in selling off the plant.
On 22/3/09’s evening while going for my usual evening walk I noticed him again this time with bandage around his next (probably a fake one) and approaching houses for money at jln tmn seputeh 5 & 6.
I’m just worry that he may start something more drastic if he cannot get enough “income” visiting houses in our neighbourhood.
I hope you can assist to post this up at Orang Seputeh blog to inform others and be ready to call in the police if this chap start making further rounds at our neighbourhood.

Daylight Robbery March 26

As part of my morning exercise routine, I often cycle around the crescent formed by roads Taman Seputeh 2, 3 and 4. Every time I do this route I have been very impressed when I meet a dear old lady with her maid out exercising with the aid of a ‘Zimmer frame’. She can just about walk and may only cover a hundred yards in 20 minutes, but as least she is getting out and making the effort.
I always gain pleasure and inspiration from her determination, her lovely smile and her cheery ‘Good Morning’ greeting.
Today [Thursday 26th march 2009] however it was a very different story, It was approximately 8.35am when I met this dear lady & her maid, as I cycled along Taman Seputeh 3; but this time they were accompanied by several other ladies, and there seem to be some commotion.
The dear old lady (I think her name is Mrs Hewi, or something like that – sorry about the spelling), had tears in her eyes, and the maid was also crying.
The other ladies then helped the old lady into a car and drove her 50 meters to her house.I now knew there was something not right, so I stopped and chatted with several people including a Mrs Tan, who lives very nearby.
It turns out that two ‘Malay speaking’ youths on a motorcycle approached the lady and the maid. The pillion rider produced a knife, and ordered them not to scream or shout.
They then pushed the old lady to the floor and snatched her gold necklace before riding off!
It must have happened literally a minute or maximum two before I arrived as I did not see any motorcycle exiting onto Taman Seputeh, and another maid said the went out of Taman Seputeh 3.
Two minutes earlier and I would have witnessed this foul act taking place. I know I could not have stood back, and done nothing, and who knows what the outcome might have been.
Maybe it was a blessing for me, but for sure I would have attacked, with only my bicycle, fists and feet as weapons; but against a moron with a knife the outcome is by no means certain.
Scary, but yet more evidence that Seputeh is no longer the safe place it used to be, and you don’t have to wait until it is dark.Now having related this very current & topical story, from a personal perspective, I have to hide it away under ‘Comments’ for no one to see!
Why can the Forum Moderator open it up for general comments from the public? What are you scared off?

SNAP president robbed at knife-point
MIRI, March 2 – Two men armed with knives today robbed Sarawak National Party (SNAP) president Edwin Dundang of a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) and mobile phone here.
Dundang, 69, was talking to a reporter on his phone while seated inside his son-in-law’s parked Naza Ria at a road shoulder near Saint Columba’s Kindergarten when the hold-up occurred at 2.25pm.
At the time, he was waiting to pick up his granddaughter from the kindergarten.
While in the midst of talking to the reporter, Dundang heard someone warn him that if he did not alight from the vehicle, he would be killed.
“Fearing for my life, I just got out of the MPV and was confronted by two men. They took away my handphone before escaping in the vehicle,” he added.
Dundang said that despite signalling passing motorists, no one stopped to help.
Eventually, a woman who was fetching her child from the kindergarten, sent him to the central police headquarters to lodge a report.
Dundang was elected SNAP president in May 2003 to succeed Sarawak’s veteran politician Datuk Amar James Wong who helmed the party for 22 years. – Bernama
